Fall soccer is over. This is good for two reasons:1) It was exhausting, for the kids, for the parents, and mostly for the coach. Even with switching the players out every few minutes, an hour is a long time for a 4 year-old to run in any direction. The kids are worn out and bored after 20 minutes or so, and proceed to occupy themselves by rolling down hills, climbing trees, and doing the conga line. The parents are frustrated because the kids are crying and not paying attention, and the coach has had it because he's donating his time 3 times a week and the kids (one of which is his son) spend the majority of the time kicking each other in the shins to see if their shin guards actually work.
2) It was during football. The only OU game we've gotten to watch was the Texas debacle, and that was because all soccer was cancelled that weekend because of the game. And then we lost.
Anyway, we had our final soccer party this past Monday at a local pizza joint, and it's probably safe to say that the staff of Hideaway will be none to eager to host us again. We had a private room, but the volume was absolutely unbelievable. Take seven 4 year-old boys, their siblings, and all the parents, and it was deafening. Mark said it best when he mentioned that the noise rivaled that inside Owen Field on an ESPN Game Day. The boys got trophies, but the coach mistakenly ordered the Girl Version, so they all feature ponytails and breasts. This fact wasn't even realized until 3 or 4 beers into the evening, and then the parents all had a good laugh.
