Whew.

Well. What a month. Where do I begin? Jacob's doing great in his preschool class, though I only know this because he seems happy. Usually, by the time I pick him up, he's worn out to the point where he can't remember what his name is, or the story is crazy embellished (i.e., "Drew went away in a helicopter."). Must remember to have the "truth" conversation.

He's also started Catechesis classes, and on the first day announced that he hoped I'd come back to get him, because "Jesus' house smells." (The area is right by the restrooms, and apparently some sick individual had decided it was a good idea to foul it up right before the 4 year-olds started class).

His social life is ridiculous; Mark and I feel like such losers, because Jacob gets invited to 4 or 5 parties a month, and we haven't been invited to one in 4 or 5 years. Though we do go to "dinners" - or, as I like to think of them, Nights of Spending Money on Other People Just So You Can Write It Off. Our last benefit was for the Oklahoma Regatta, and it was kind of a bust. Poorly organized, and we had bought raffle tickets for a Vespa, the winner of which they kept saying had to be present at the end of the evening. We totally thought we had it in the bag, because hardly anyone bought tickets, and 75% of the attendees left to watch the race, and I was more than chapped when they then claimed that the winner would actually be announced two nights later. We had been there drinking crappy Oklahoma wine with cork in it for 2 hours, when we could have been home watching our newest obsession, Showtime's Dexter! Plus, Jacob had a run-in with his grandmother's granite countertop and came home with an enormous black eye (oh, did I mention his school pictures were 3 days later?)

Anyway, Jacob's going to be a dragon-with-wings for Halloween, but he thinks he's going to be a hamburger. (?) He saw the costume at Pottery Barn Kids, and it's cute, but there is no way I'm spending $90 on a costume that he'll wear once, and I'm too busy to make one.

Mark and I still haven't picked a vacation spot. We've narrowed the time frame down, but now that may be up in the air because we had planned to be out of the country over the election and numerous people have given us s*#t over it (Hello? Ever heard of Absentee Ballots?)

We took Jacob to an awesome kids' museum a few weeks ago and wore him out. He did everything from playing dentist to digging for dinosaur bones, and it really was a good time.

Mark's company just was named the 10th fastest growing company in OKC, so that's cool. I personally wish Mark had been named the 10th fastest wealth-accumulating person in OKC, but sometimes dreams die young.

I've been stupidly busy with volunteer work for Junior League; in a weak moment, I accepted a 2-year Board position for JL's largest annual fundraiser, and I'm a wreck. It's over next week, and I plan on celebrating with several bottles of non-Oklahoma wine.

Oh, and of course, our Beloved Sooners are at the top right now. Stoops is the man.
