New Friends for a New Year

Yesterday I spent the day with my new friend Sugar (I know, sounds like one of those girls, huh?). She's a very sweet girl who has recently experienced some rough times, and I'm going to see if I can help her through it. She's cute, friendly, and laid-back, and she's Jacob's Christmas present. Of course, he doesn't know he's getting a dog, but Mark and I are going to give her to him on Christmas morning. One of my friends is on every animal rescue/humane society board in town, and after thinking about it, we decided to give her my list of requirements and she found a dog for us. She's currently fostering the dog, and Sugar gets to come over for a day or two every week to get used to us, our house, and our cat. And if you're wondering...yes, the cat hates her, but she hates almost everyone so Sugar can't feel too honored. This is something we knew would happen, and we'll just have to roll with the punches (or scratches). After Christmas, instead of saying, "Jacob, go play in the backyard!" I'll be able to say, "Jacob, go play in the backyard with the dog!" We'll keep you posted...
