Well, I won't disappoint: it was great. Our plan was to give Jacob the dog on Christmas Eve - provided he was a good boy in church. And he was a good boy, for the 10 minutes we were actually at church. Apparently you have to get there an hour and a half early to get a seat, and since the couches in the foyer and gym were also taken, we called it a gallant try and headed home. Jacob knew he was getting a present, so he was super excited. We had wrapped up the dog bowls and some Milkbones, and had him unwrap those first, and then Mark came in with Sugar. It's all on video, thanks to my mom, so here you go:
So anyway, we have added to our family. The existing cat, a new dog, and the three of us. So far, it's going well, except that we've discovered that the dog is actually just one, and probably more of a puppy than we were anticipating. She's very chewey, and we've had a few tears over half-eaten Hot Wheels and teething on fingers. She also barks incessantly at the cat who, in turn, hisses and swipes at the dog, and it's very loud in our house. But Sugar hasn't had one accident in the house, and is very sweet when she's sleeping.
On to Christmas morning. Fabulous, except that we had a very sick child who had to take breaks amidst all the present-opening to rest on the couch. Gosh, that even sounds sad. He was so sick that he missed Christmas evening at Mark's parents' home, staying with my mom and dad at our house instead. We were able to get him to the doctor Friday morning, where we found out that he had a double ear infection and Croup. Yucko. Just now in the middle of that round of antibiotics. But he did get a lot from Santa (I may have slightly overbought), and he's been playing with his new toys and riding his big boy bike in our current Spring-like weather.
Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
