GREAT Day (aka, I Am Awesome)

Okay, first, one of my best friends just had a healthy 7-lb. baby girl - congratulations!

Second, yes, OU lost last night, but we still love them.

Third, I am probably the most organized person on earth. I'm not being all braggy here, but it's true. Jacob didn't get to bed until 10:30ish last night due to the game, so I knew he'd be tired today. So what did I do? Wore him out more. This morning we played outside, rode his bike, walked the dog, and climbed trees. Then the termite inspector came at 1:15, and after he left we went to his favorite playground where, among other things and thanks to his friends, he helped make "sand angels," which is something I've now outlawed. Then we raced home at 4:30, grabbed the dog, and went to Dog Park, where Jacob spent an hour chasing about 30 dogs. Also at Dog Park was Santa. I know - sounds weird - but Jacob kept looking at this man (that did, actually, look remarkably like the real thing), and he finally worked up the nerve to ask him. And what did this nice man do? Winked at my son and said, "Hello, Jacob" (he must have heard me talking to him). Anyway, Jacob was both terrified ("Is Santa watching now?") and in awe at the same time. The exhaustion and the thrill came across as a very doped-up 4-year old, so at 5:20 we came home, took a bath, and he and the dog have now collapsed on the couch. It will be a 7:00 bedtime tonight, which may not sound like much to you, but it means freedom to me. Like I said, I Am Awesome.
