Well, I have all kinds of excuses, but they all somehow relate to an extraordinarily busy summer. We did the pool, the playdates, the movies, the video games, the tender moments, and the tantrums. Throw in the start of school (Jacob's last year before Kindergarten!), a bunch of work events, the Junior League, and a few overnight excursions, and that was our summer. And now it's Fall, and I have left so many of you out of the loop. Let's start anew, shall we?I am re-starting with today because it's been especially thrilling.
- Today was my day to bring pizza to Jacob's school. When I got there, I took a few minutes to spy on my creation in the midst of his day. He was surrounded by friends, and they were busily "cooking" something at the play stove. I cannot even describe the joy I got from those couple of moments. I was reassured that my son is happy, healthy, and has a true love for life. Then he saw me and ignored me, but at least I have my "memories."
- My 2001 Jeep rolled to 100,000 miles at 10:37 a.m. this morning. I have to say, despite my loathing of American-made cars (in particular, Jeep), I never expected the vehicle to last this long and I'm now pleasantly surprised. I might just see if I can make it another 100K. Unfortunately, no one was there to share the moment with me. In retrospect, this might have been a good thing, because for some reason, I shed a few tears. But those might have just been because I'm on Day 2 of feeling like s*#t with a sinus infection.
- Our house has new paint on it. This is a big deal. In an effort to try to save money, we have been spending weekends alongside our contractor helping out where we could. I have now decided that sometimes saving money will actually cost you much more: your sanity. But it's no longer the disgusting skin-colored mess it was before and, to my delight, we've had some jealous onlookers!
- Sugar has not barked for almost 3 hours.
