Show and Tell

Today was a Show and Tell day, and I had promised Jacob that we would take Sugar. So we got her leash and headed to school. He is supposed to be there by 8:45, and they start at 9, so when we got to his classroom we had about 15 minutes to kill before the event began. From the moment we walked in the room, it was complete chaos. Twenty three 4 year-olds immediately sensed a live animal and Sugar was suddenly in the spotlight. Since she tends to have an overactive bladder when she's around new people, I was convinced that she'd tinkle all over the new carpet but, like Jacob, she apparently is at her best when she's the center of attention and didn't have an accident. She did, however, make a b-line for one of the math games, which involves numbered Milkbones. After the teachers got that out of her reach, she saw the Show and Tell tubs and was able to wrangle a few of the kids' Show and Tell stuffed animals out to "kill" them, but that almost-catastrophe was also quickly managed.

She was very popular with the girls, who all wanted to pet and kiss the dog, while the boys (including Jacob) stayed away and focused on toys. Anyway, Jacob did a great job answering questions about her, and he was very proud. The whole experience wore Sugar out to the point that, when we got home, she saw the cat and didn't even seem to have the energy to irritate her. I wonder if I can take her to Show and Tell every week?
