Schools/offices/store have been closed since Monday, but today there were clear skies and I think the temperature even got up to 32. Jacob and I went out once, and the roads were fine. So tonight, truly believing that everything would be back to normal tomorrow, I was horrified to learn that the public school system we mirror would be closed. Again. For the third day in a row.
Now, Jacob has "Fluffy Friend Day" tomorrow, which seems like "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" or whatever lame time-waster is out there nowadays. But all the kids have been excited about it, and we had to make this special bag for the toy and it has been kind of a big deal in our home. So when I told Jacob that he would be staying home with me again, he immediately burst into tears. At first I was mildly offended (because who wouldn't want to hang out with me all day?!?) but then I realized that he was just upset about Fluffy Friend Day. Now I'm really ticked off - even the newscasters, who would negatively sensationalize something like Arbor Day just to get ratings, even say that the roads are fine. But the geniuses on the school board have made my 4 year-old cry, and even though I'm the one who should be crying, I buck up and calm him down, all the while thinking curse words in my head. Oh, and then Mark left for band practice, and I'm just praying that the roads are really fine, because who's going to make funeral arrangements if I'm watching my home-from-school-again child?
Luckily, one of Jacob's teachers called a little while later and said that his school would be open tomorrow, and reminded us to bring Jacob's Fluffy Friend. The world has been saved.
