Instead of going out to a big, expensive dinner, I cooked at home this year. The menu: Spring Onion Soup, Pasta with Spring Herbs, Scallops with Wilted Spinach and Arugula and, for dessert, Cherry and Amaretti Parfaits. And it's a good thing we didn't go out, as my son's topic of conversation couldn't have been less "romantic."
