Halloween 2009

Wow. We had the most fantastic Halloween week. Highlights included Jacob's school party, during which my son did not undress as in previous years, and which included a multitude of songs:

Last night, we carved pumpkins. (Well, Mark and Jacob carved; I washed dinner dishes. You can't win 'em all, I guess.)

Tonight, we went to a friend's house for "group trick-or-treating," and it couldn't have been better: take a Saturday night, 70-degree weather, a full moon, a fabulous neighborhood, and 4 very excited little 5 year-olds, and you get a perfect night. The boys literally ran from house to house collecting their loot, and their bags were so heavy by the end that the parents ended up carrying them. It was also humorous, as we heard things like, "This is a dream come true!" and "This is the best night of my life!" Funny when coming from the mouths of little boys. But, we started with a ton of food, and ended with a ton of candy. Jacob was so tired by the time we got home that I considered not even brushing his teeth, but then remembered how I had just gotten onto him a few nights ago about the Cavity Creeps visiting little boys who don't brush, and was able to at least get most of the sugar off his pearly whites before he fell asleep. Great night; hope everyone else had a happy Halloween!
