Halloween Week

I'm happy to report that I'm now on the mend. Not sure why my sinuses have been so mad at me, but I feel 300% better than I have in the last 2 weeks. It's an ideal week for me to be well, since Halloween seems to be a 4-day holiday for pre-schoolers. Beginning tomorrow, Jacob will be wearing his costume to a variety of activities, including Tumbling and school. So it's going to be exciting.

Anyway...updates: This past weekend, Mark took advantage of the clear skies and made some progress on our house. Some of this required him to get on the roof, the ultimate in "cool" for certain curious kids. Mark promised Jacob that he would take him up there at some point, so Jacob waited patiently on the ladder for about half an hour before his dream came true. I wasn't totally okay with this idea, but I'm only 50% of the decision-making equation. And since I didn't really help out on the house this weekend, I was probably only about 35% at the time. Even so, I snapped some cute pics:

Second, the Cutest Kid in Existence (aka, Jacob) has been asked to be in a Gap fashion show on November 12. After learning that he would, indeed, have "handlers," I agreed to let him participate. Sweetening the deal (for me, anyway, since it means a night off) is a free Chick Fil A dinner for him the night of the show, which is what he's most excited about. Anyway, I just got his "schedule" yesterday - dang! We start this Friday with an attire fitting at Gap, and then there's publicity, rehearsal, dress rehearsal, photo shoot, and (the most hilarious part), "Hair and/or make-up with Sweet & Sassy." The whole thing should be a hoot, so stay tuned for photos/video on November 13.

Third, it costs $45 to have the dog groomed every other month. Ever the cheapskate, I decided to take the matter into my own hands (with Mark's help). We bought some clippers and researched dog grooming on the internet. Thanks to YouTube, on Sunday we half-successfully gave a home haircut to part of the dog. Instead of me describing it, let's just say that the Westie in the video was a lot more cooperative, and the groomer was a lot more skilled. But it looks pretty decent, and practice makes perfect, right? I have some learning to do, but I think it's going to work out. Of course, she will still have to visit the groomer occasionally, since I will take no part in the anal gland thing - ever.

That's all for now, folks.
